Afternoon tea is an indulgent way to spend a few hours, it's one of life's little luxuries. On Sunday 28th April the Bourne Valley Day Centre for the Elderly, Charity 1034491, (known locally as Club Friday), held a Vintage-themed Afternoon Tea fundraising event at Newton Tony Memorial Hall.
Attendees were served a selection of finely cut sandwiches, delicious savoury bites, scones with cream and strawberry preserve and an array of beautifully presented, tempting cakes. For an extra bit of decadence, glasses of fizz were available.
Highly entertaining sea shanties group, The Navy Larks, https://www.facebook.com/NavyLarks delighted their audience by performing a selection of favourite songs. Their performance was very well received and provided the opportunity for some lively audience participation during better known numbers.
A raffle also took place with a fantastic range of over 30 prizes on offer, many generously donated by local businesses. The charity is very grateful for their support.
As a result of much planning, hard work and local support the charity managed to raise in excess of £1100. These funds will help ensure continuation of a greatly valued community service.
