Pétanque in the Winterbournes

The Winterbournes Pétanque Club has now changed its regular gatherings to 2.00pm on Saturday afternoons at the Winterbourne Arms, to allow play before it gets too dark and cold. After our first season in the Hopback Friendly Pétanque League I am very proud to report that we finished fifth in the League and, in the Cup Competition lost only in the final – so congratulations to the team, for being runners-up, and our first silverware now sits behind the bar.

The hardy team was not put off by the appalling weather conditions at the Green Dragon, Alderbury on Saturday 2nd October, as you can see from the cheerful smiles in the photos (thanks to David Lawford), but were eventually pipped to the post by the team from the Salmon Leap (in Totton).

If you would like to play pétanque, which is a wonderfully sociable game, suitable for all ages and abilities, please get in touch with Peter 01980 611350 or enquire at the Winterbourne Arms 01980 619351 and join us at our regular Club sessions, now on Saturday afternoons. Cheers…!
